This is where you can find the latest news about my books…

My first book, The Way I See It (TWISI), was released on 10th January 2008, when I was 18 years old.  It’s an account of my life since I was diagnosed with cancer when I was 11, and I wrote it to help people in a similar situation as me, and to show that you should never give up hope.  Also to make people appreciate what they’ve got, and it definitely seems to be doing that from the response I’ve had so far.  It is available in all good book shops including Waterstone’s, WH Smith’s, Asda, Borders and online at Amazon.

The photos above and below are from my book launch which was held at the Horsebridge Centre in Whitstable on the day ‘TWISI’ was released.  I had over 100 friends and family there, and the hall was decorated brilliantly pink!  My books were sold on the night with the proceeds going towards my £30,000 target for The Silver Lining Appeal, and £2,000 was raised!

So far I’ve done two book signings.  The first was in March 2008 at Waterstone’s in Canterbury, and the second in November 2008 at the Horsebridge Centre in Whitstable.  Both received a good turn out which was a relief!

I’ve been very lucky to have received some great reviews about ‘TWISI’.  Below are a few of them:

In January 2008 ‘TWISI’ was Waterstone’s book of the month. This is a quote from the store:

'Nicole's inspirational story will leave anyone who reads it in utter awe of her selflessness, sense of humour and incredibly positive outlook in the face of such immense and extreme obstacles.'

In November 2008 I won a special award for The Way I See It at the Youngminds Book Award 2008.  TWISI made it to the shortlist of six books, after being on the longlist of fifteen.  Young people had to review the books to determine which ones made the shortlist, and luckily TWISI did!  The award was for a book which helps young people with issues growing up.  I didn’t win the actual award that the night was all about, but I was surprised with a special award which was the Children’s Choice Award, and was voted for by the young people who had been reviewing the books.

In March 2009 ‘TWISI’ won the 1066 book award, which was voted for by schools in Sussex.  TWISI also made it to the shortlist of 10 books for the Lancashire book of the year award, which had been voted for by children in schools across Lancashire. There were 100 books to start with, so I was really pleased to make the final 10.

I’m really pleased to say that since the summer of 2009, The Way I See It, has been available in a large print version for people with visual impairments.  It can be bought from libraries or online at Amazon through the link below.

‘Talk to the Hand’

In February 2010 I released my second book ‘Talk to the hand’.  It is the sequel to ‘The Way I See It’, and is available from Waterstone’s and Amazon.
