This is a poem which a lady called Kirsten Hogden wrote about me

A Dedication

The lifestyle of a teenager who lives close to me

As written in her book leads to humility

Sometimes I groan with each ache and pain

Then suddenly I stop and think again!

How can she be so strong at heart

With so much to burden her almost from the start

A promising life as a gymnast maybe

Her thoughts turn to journalism as she writes her diary

I’ve read her book from beginning to end

And felt compelled to really unbend

Nicole needs patience everyday

As she attends hospitals home and away

Meeting her recently was a pleasure indeed

To say that her book was a humbling read

As she raises money for three worthy causes

Aiding these places with better resources

A second book is now on its way

What it’s about she will not say

I will again be first in the queue

Ready to buy it to help more than a few

These are some poems that I wrote when I was 16

You Won’t Succeed

Standing strong

To prove you wrong,

You won’t succeed in breaking me!

I’ll fight whatever you throw,

So have a go,

You won’t succeed in breaking me!

Throughout it all

I’m standing tall,

You won’t succeed in breaking me!

Through thick and thin

I wear a grin,

You won’t succeed in breaking me!

You mean nothing to me,

Just like it should be,

You won’t succeed in breaking me!

In fact, I thank you

For what you do

Because you made me me!

Butterfly

I wish I were a butterfly

In the wind floating by.

I wish I were a fly on a wall,

So small you wouldn’t know I was there at all.

I wish I were a bumble bee

Buzzing round a honey tree.

I wish I were a ladybird,

Often seen but never heard.

I wish I were a wiggly worm.

Watch me jump and watch me squirm!

I wouldn’t mind being a silvery snail.

Watch the sun shine on my trail!

But most of all I wish I were…

the pale blue sky.

I’d spread my feather wings and start to fly.

Do You Believe?

Do you believe

In all kind of things

Like tiny fairies

With fluttery wings?

With these fairies

I hold a bond as

They sprinkle glitter

From a wand.

With stripy net skirts

And bells on their toes,

A long fur jacket

And pink panty hose!

With a hop and a skip,

A flick and a swish,

In no time at all

They have granted a wish.

Dancing Fairies

In the distance a pink light flickers,

A fairy’s dancing in her knickers!

Dancing on the bluebell tops,

She sees me staring and looks and stops.

Seconds later, more appear,

Singing loudly and drinking beer!

They brush their hair and put on lippy

Before heading down to the local chippy.

Dancing happily without a care,

They don’t mind that I am there.

They wave their hands and summon me,

I jump to my feet and grab my key.

I go on a journey through the streets,

Following their wings all small and neat.

A tipsy fairy lies in the gutter

While high in the skies the fairies flutter,

They whip out their wands and the magic begins,

They wriggle their noses and flap their wings.

Through the town the fairies totter,

Spreading magic like Harry Potter.

I look at their wands and wish one were mine

As the stars above us twinkle and shine.

They sing and dance for hours and hours

And I watch them skipping among the flowers.

Then as the sun begins to rise,

They disappear before my eyes.
